Microchip Technology Inc. has an Engineer II-Computer Systems opening based in Beverly, Massachusetts. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of Desktop Support tasks in a Tier-2 level by making sure that the end-users IT issues are resolved in a timely manner. You will be closely working with our Tier-1 and Tier-3 IT teams. In this role, you will be based out of our Beverly facility and will also be responsible for providing desktop support to our Brimbal facility. You will also be expected to travel to this facility when needed.

Responsibilities:

o Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for internal desktop systems hardware and software as well as support for network, basic server, and storage infrastructure for 250+ users

o Installs, configures, and troubleshoots Windows XP, 7 and 10 Operating systems and workstations, smartphones, and network equipment in a heterogeneous environment

o Operates and maintains company's internal data communication systems across multiple platforms and protocols including VoIP

o Manages Users and Computers objects in Active Directory

o Performs Windows imaging for break-fix and new computer equipment

o Analyzes, installs, modifies, and supports operating systems, database, or utilities software

o Performs routine backup operations for Beverly facility

o Supports and troubleshoots basic Unix/Linux requests and issues

o Assist Information Services Support Manager in standardizing organization's processes, procedures, and policies

o May participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects

o Remote support for a limited number of home users

o Job may require travel to other Microchip facilities in North America

      o Bachelor of Computer Science degree with a minimum 2 years of experience in an IT Support environment

      o Must have superior customer service and communication skills

      o Strong experience with Windows 10, AD, and Office 365 in a heterogenous environment

      o Must be willing to work with multiple users at a given day

      o Must have a positive attitude and "can do" approach to solving issues

      o Must be able to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment with over 250+ users

      o Comfortable working in a tiered support environment working with multiple support tiers

      o Solid technical aptitude and demonstrated problem-solving skills

      Preferred Skills:

      o ITIL Foundation V3 or V4 certified

      o Microsoft Certified Professional certified

      o Experience supporting engineering lab environments

      o Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system

      o Previous Microchip experience in Desktop Support Systems
